Survey of Combinatorial Algebraic Geometry

This `tapas’ course will consist of a series of separate 2- or 3-week introductions to specific topics within combinatorial algebraic geometry. The objective is to convey both the breath of the topics and the range of distinct perspectives within the field. The schedule can be found here.

Topics in representation theory: geometry of flag varieties (MAT1105HF)

The geometry of flag varieties is a central topic in modern representation theory and combinatorial algebraic geometry. We will cover Schubert stratification, cohomology of flag varieties and Schubert calculus, line bundles and Borel-Weil theory, and Springer theory. We will not assume any background knowledge of Lie theory or algebraic geometry.
